What You Missed at the 2013 IMCA Annual Conference & Showcase
Nearly 150 insurance marketing and communications professionals came together at the Philadelphia Ritz-Carlton last month (June 23-26) for the IMCA 2013 Annual Conference. Attendees were wowed by exceptional speakers, extraordinary networking events, and a memorable Showcase awards banquet. In case you missed it, here’s the highlight reel:
- The conference kicked off Sunday evening with a Philly-themed reception featuring a trivia game that tested one’s knowledge of Philadelphia, the birthplace of the U.S. insurance industry.
- Monday brought two big announcements: the debut of IMCA’s new logo and tagline (Insuring You’re Connected) and the summer launch of a new website for the association.
- Monday and Tuesday speaker agendas were packed and powerful: Insurance Information Institute President Dr. Bob Hartwig on Monday and the electrifying best-selling author and diversity expert Kelly McDonald. Other presentations covered social media, the industry’s talent gap, big data and digital advertising and a tremendous agent panel discussion on agent communications.
- 12 Tuesday breakout sessions covered seven topics, from mobile marketing to copywriting.
- At the Tuesday luncheon, Esurance was awarded the 2nd annual Innovation Torchbearers Award.
- On Tuesday, the Showcase Awards Banquet kicked off with a visit from the Phillie Phanatic and short presentation by digital innovators Dom & Tom Tancredi. Continuing a practice started last year, attendees donated to the American Red Cross to help fund disaster relief.
- The IMCA Showcase Awards Gala honored the industry’s best creative efforts in insurance marketing and communications. Awards of Excellence or Best of Show Awards were presented in 34 categories.
- This year’s SAMMYtm went to CAMICO’s phenomenally successful CPA Engagement Letter Campaign, which generated an ROI of over 2600%.
